Preserve Your Body: Lose a Bit of
Weight!
In the United States we
have become very overweight. Our unhealthy eating choices have
created our lard filled tummies. Although not everyone in the
country is large, most of us could probably afford to lose some
weight.
It really is a great idea to lose some
weight. Even a small decrease in overall body fat can work
wonders for your overall health. The fact is that a lot of us
are disillusioned by what society expects us to be. We realize
that we can never become a size-two lady or a muscle-bound
gentleman like we see featured on the checkstand magazines.
But, you may think, dieting is a huge hassle and you are just
never going to be able to keep up a diet over a long period of
time. However, you can alter your lifestyle and your diet to
get started on the track to good health.
There are a lot of us who throw up our hands
in despair about getting our bodies to look the way we want. We
decide that even if we are completely dedicated to a weight
loss plan, it isn't likely that we will ever have the bodies of
the thin goddesses of the runway.
But being America's Next Top Model isn't the
only way to get healthy. You can lose a smaller amount of
weight and greatly improve your overall health. You aren't
going to be required to go on an extreme crackers-and-tuna diet
or to run fourteen miles a day to get healthy! If you weigh too
much for your frame, you will probably feel sluggish and
unmotivated. Then your activity level will drop and you will be
a less happy person.
For instance, think about your current
lifestyle. In what ways can you change what you eat and how
much exercise you get without seriously being bothered?
Begin your examination of your life with
your mornings. What do you do when you wake up in the morning?
Do you stretch your arms or legs or do you simply fall into the
bathroom? It's a good idea to strech as that gets the muscles
working.
If you are usually a bacon and pancakes
person for breakfast, perhaps you should try some nutritious
cereal and a glass of juice instead. Try this other meal three
days next week and see what a difference it makes in your
day.
If you have a bike, you might want to take
it to work one day a week, say on the causal dress day.
Encourage your co-workers to do the same.
One great change in your life that is
completely easy to make is to drink more water. If you drink
eight glasses of eight ounces of water per day, you can keep
your brain from tricking you into thinking you need food when
you are really just thirsty.
Be sure to eat enough vegetables and fruits.
These items make great side items in meals. They are stuffed
full of important minerals, vitamins, and other
health-producing vitals. A salad per day with a low-fat
dressing is a great way to achieve this. Depending on the
season, you might want to bring an orange with you to work each
day.
Want to know how to keep your metabolic rate
high? consume small meals all day long. When your metabolism is
working all day long, it will stay high and regularly burn fat.
If you don't use this method of eating, you are sure to be
sluggish and your metabolism will slow down, causing you to
keep putting on pounds. No one wants that sort of a diet!
While it's sometimes okay to splurge, it's
never a good idea to fill up on fried or sugar-filled meals.
These foods will fill up your belly and you won't want to eat
any healthy food, such as salads or turkey sandwiches. On top
of that, eating these foods gives you empty calories which in
turn produce weight gain. Don't eat foods that don't improve
your health. If you sometimes treat yourself, the treat will be
that much more del
Healthy eating and healthy living go hand in
hand. However, most people are not going to change their
lifestyles completely, nor do they have to. The most exciting
part of taking charge of small steps to improve overall health
is how simple it is!
